NAII and its leadership contribute independent expertise to government initiatives, executive decision-making and international discussions about artificial intelligence. These selected contributions illustrate that work across public policy, organisational strategy and societal challenges.

Strengthening Sweden’s public-sector AI capacity

Christian Guttmann, representing the Nordic Artificial Intelligence Institute, chaired the international AI reference group supporting Sweden’s Agency for Digital Government (DIGG) in a formal government assignment on strengthening public administration’s capacity to use artificial intelligence.

The reference group brought together expertise from the European Commission, academia, industry and Swedish public-sector organisations. It supported the assignment and contributed external review and quality assurance to the resulting analysis and proposed national actions.

International expert contribution to Finland’s AI programme

Christian Guttmann contributed as one of nine international experts to the final report of Finland’s national Artificial Intelligence Programme, published by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.

The international expert contribution examined the future direction of artificial intelligence and Finland’s strategic opportunities, including industrial competitiveness, data mobility and human-centric AI. The official report identifies both his NAII and Tieto affiliations.

AI and online child protection at the Royal Palace

At the personal invitation of HM King Carl XVI Gustaf and HM Queen Silvia of Sweden, NAII Executive Director Christian Guttmann participated in a full-day expert workshop at the Royal Palace connected with the World Childhood Foundation and Global Child Forum.

The workshop addressed the use of AI to combat online child sexual abuse and exploitation, including questions of privacy and implementation. Guttmann was among the contributors presenting the workshop’s key takeaways, ahead of final remarks by HM Queen Silvia.
